How To Lose Weight...Forever!
If you want to lose weight and keep it off, forever, ditching the ‘lose 20, gain 20’ cycle and never feeling miserable or on a diet, then you’re not alone.
In this video I’m giving you my top tips to lose weight, eat like a queen and all without giving up the things you love. And when you’ve managed to figure that out, lasting change is a breeze.
How can I lose weight healthily and keep it off?
If you’re still reading this then, you’ve figured out that to make lasting change you need to really have a lifestyle makeover. (Virtual high five!!)
The rushed summer cleanse or 2 week juice diet isn’t going to cut it. First, it’s not fun. Second, it doesn’t work. (Well..it does, for a while, but as we get older we stop seeing results from these insane quick fixes because we break our metabolism doing them. Bad news right?)
What I’d suggest you do is break the bigger picture down into smaller steps. So maybe pick 1 or 2 habits at a time, such as eating more vegetables or getting enough sleep, and that way you’re more likely to stick with the program and get long-term results that last.
In fact in our Rebelle program, we do exactly this, giving our clients the tools and tricks to change one thing at a time, until wham bam thank you maam...lifestyles are changed!
That’s not to say that transformations are slow. I also recommend a kickstart, something to get you some early success and out of the starting blocks so that you stay motivated. You can download the free motivation kit below this post which will help you get clear on how to get out of the starting blocks and break down your goals too.
Studies also show that if you have support from friends or a coach and a plan to follow, you’re much more likely to stick with it and get results.
What does this actually mean? It means you need a map and some gal pals to inspire you when things get tough, and you probably just want someone to tell you the what’s and how’s and to support you in doing it, am I right?
Whether that’s a personal trainer, an online fitness program for women, a local bootcamp group, our online fitness program exclusively for women, Rebelle, or just joining up with your bestie to get accountable, make sure you know exactly what you’re supposed to be doing, on what day, and how you’re going to ‘make it happen.’
Lasting change simply comes from creating new habits, and research tells us we need to repeat the same new habit for up to 60 days to make it stick (which is why we made a 10 week program, so all the useful stuff you do gets sticky as heck.)
Overwhelm will beat the best of intentions so I really recommend thinking about 1 week at a time, one step at a time and looking at the bigger picture.
And finally… insane body transformations, relentless exercise that you don’t love or food that tastes bland and boring isn’t a lifestyle change. If you’re doing something that doesn’t feel good to you, you’ll never make it last in real life. Don’t try to stick with something just because the experts told you you ‘should’. On the flip side, don’t make an excuse for mediocrity and use this as a get-out clause.
To make lasting change you’re going to need to bring on the best of you so you can step into a leaner, fitter and more fabulous you with ease.
